The idea of “Catching Light” project was to track movement of performers (a dancer, a contortionist, a hand balancer, an acrobat, a juggler and an aerialist) by using small light sources and long exposure photography.

After coming up with this concept I called a deaf friend, Dona Eunioa, who is also a great photographer, in order to collaborate on this project. Dona immediately said yes and we started to get the ball rolling.

I’m lucky to know these great performers who gave their time and talent for “Catching Light”: Kyla Ernst-Alper (Dance and Pole) , Anna Venizelos (Contortion) , Dave Durante (Acrobat) , Sadie Wilhelmi (Aeial Lyra) and Kelsey Strauch (Juggling clubs & Hoola-Hoop).

We shot the project at Body & Pole studio in NYC. Here is a great opportunity to thank them for the studio and the time we got there, there kindness, their great management and staff and their amazing support in creative projects.

Harry Pocious, a great photographer and a super nice person came to where I was training, in order to do a photo shoot.

I was just working on creating a funny act on a crash mat, using it as my bed for a character of a person who does not want to get up in the morning and every time finds his way of getting into the bed.

Harry saw me working and asked me if I would keep working and doing what i do but just few feet closer, so he could take photos.

And this is how we got those!
